Does anyone know how a owner of a nuvi is going to upgrade the software ?
Mine has ver 7. And with ver 8 out soon, It looks like it may have to be
sent in to garmin to perform this task.

I did call Garmin on another problem I see may happen. Which is the software
gets hosed how would one go to reload it. Garmin tech support has no clue.
And he asked his boss. Was told it has not come up yet. As for a reload of
the software he would only quess and say it might have to be sent back. : (

I doubt the unit will have to be returned for the map update. No Garmin
unit to date has been required to be returned to Garmin for an update.

I guess it is a new issue. Won't 7 to 8 be the first City Nav update
since they started selling GPSRs with pre-loaded maps?

Hopefully good old Garmin has thought this through!

No, the 2620 and it's dead reckoning bro. and the c330 have pre-loaded
maps. Both of those have been updated at least once. I assume the nuvi and
others will be updated in a similar manner.
