Using an 855 on a trip in Northern Arizona. I've noticed that when I
select a destination (either via an end point destination or by creating
a route), the 855 will not remember the destination if I need to turn it
off for any reason (i,e, rest stop or food break). I have to reenter the
destination anew when it's turned back on.

I would have thought that that since it really goes into standby when
turned off that it would just pick up where it left off when turned back
on. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Harvey

What if I'm on a long trip with an overnight stay? This would then
require the purchase of an ac adapter in order to keep it powered up (my
car does not power the 12v socket when the car is off).

Thanks,
Harvey

That wasn't in the additional spec... Maybe your 12v socket is broken!

Does not matter. The most stolen item from cars is the portable GPS. Anyone
leaving one in a car is foolish. Mine comes out if I'm going to be more than
10 feet from my car.

When you select the end point (waypoint) you should save it. Then you
can use it again. Also most Garmin GPS receivers when they start up
have a note asking if you want to Stop (in red). If you say View Map
and do not select stop then it will continue on the route that you had
before. If you select Stop then the route will be deleted.
If you select a New Waypoint and do not select Stop, then it will
continue on the route and then onto the new waypoint.
