I always turn on my GPS before I start to drive,so that it is fully
active when I start my trip. This is really important on business
trips, where I ALWAYS use my Nuvi 770 because I am going to someplace
new, say a client's office or a hotel, from the airport.

On recent business trips, the device was giving me "lost power"
messages right after I snapped the device into the window-mounting
cradle and usually within seconds after the device beeped because it
was no longer running from its own battery.

Now I don't even get that message. However, I recently got a "device
not recognized" message when I snapped the Nuvi into the cradle.

Is the problem with my Nuvi or the mounting cradle?

I've been getting this problem with my Nuvi 350.I just checked the fuse
and it is all white where you usually have see thru glass.I never looked
at the fuse before so I don't know if that is normal for this type fuse
or not. Also with my one eye I can't tell what size fuse it is?

A strong magnifying glass will show you the stamping on at least one end of
the fuse.

A Google search on nuvi 350 fuse brought me to a site that had a posting
with:

"As best I can read the stamping on the fuse, it is F1AH250V. Is this a type
F with a 1 amp-hour/250Volt rating? It's 3/4" long...."

Someone responded with this:

select 1A fast blow F520. you get a pack of 5 for $1.95 (He didn't say what
F520 is, and the 3 year old link attached to his posting goes to a site that
no longer exists. I know, how helpful is that?)

and another with this:

I also found the Littelfuse 216 001 (ceramic) is equivalent to the F1AH250V
(1 amp, fast blow) and is high breaking rated. The 217 001 is the glass
version but not high breaking.

Maybe "F" for fast blow, "520" for 5 mm (diameter) x 20 mm (length).
5 mm x 20 mm is - at least in Germany - the standard size for such kind
of fuses.

HTH and Merry Christmas to all of you
