I am confused about Custom POIs that have been loaded with POI Loader. I
use MapSource to create the Waypoints (Custom POIs) and then create routes
using those Waypoints. After using POI Loader, what happens to the routes?
Can one create routes using Custom POIs?

Thanks.

You can use the custom POIs on the Garmin after you download them, but
the routes will be regenerated by the Garmin from the current location.

Did you upload the route to your 760?

I have not figured out a way to use custom POIs with routes. Best I can
tell, POI Loader only downloads the POIs, not the routes?

I can create favorites and routes and use MapSource to download those (and
then import the routes from My Data) to the 760.

I was just trying to figure out how to not have so many waypoints in
favorites for my routes but rather use them from Custom POI. BTW, I do not
put a copy of the custom POIs in the 760 internal memory, I just leave them
on the SD card (they are easy enough to recreate).

POI        - you use POI Loader to upload to your Garmin

ROUTE        - you use MapSource to create and upload the ROUTE to your Garmin. You
can create but you can only upload to model with Route features.

POI - no matter where you keep the original POI, when you upload to Garmin
it will upload to the Unit (I am not 100% sure, but pretty sure). I never
looked at the size but I don't think it's very big to cause any concern.

ROUTE - It was a neat feature for older Garmin unit with no-autoroute. But
with newer with auto-route I don't think you really need it.

Or you can manually tell it to go from Point A -> B -> C -> D etc.
