I have owned a Nuvi 660 for a couple of years which came with the
rraffic receiver/power cable.

In our area the only traffice data I receive is about Cincinnti and
Columbus, so that feature is useless to me, this when my "trial"
subscription expired, I did not renew.

My question is what other function does this cable perform other than
power and traffic data rfeception ?

I ask this question because it does not seem to be supplying power to
my Nuvi. This has just started recently. I cahrged my Nuvi with the usb
port of my computer before starting out on a trip.

I hooked up the power/traffic cable set out on a short trip and then
after a period of time (did not do actual timing, but it seemed like
about what I figured the onboard battery would last) I got the display
that battery was dying and then a minute or so later it shut off.

So I don't know if there is a problem in the cable or my power outlet
in the car. I am going to test the power outlets when my wife returns
with my vehicle, so am asking preliminary info questions.

Thanks for any and all replies.

Check status lights on cable. Sounds as if you are not getting power.
Either power outlet is bad or cable is bad. Not sure if cable plug has a
fuse in it or not.
Will have to look at the cable for my 660.
Your owners manual CD shows status lights meanings. It's a pdf file.
If you can't find your CD you can get a pdf from the Garmin site or contact
me & I will email.

Of course! (hitting self on forehead)

You should have said RTFM. My bad - I feel really stupid for posting
such a question. Well it happens when the years mount up.

Sorry

Actually, the auto cable (at least for my nuvi 255w), has a red led on
the power cable connector that indicates when 12 volts is present at
the car outlet. My nuvi does kinda the same thing. I never know if it
is charging or not, but I DO know that 12 volts is going to the nuvi.
