I have a question about charging my 255W , can I use something like a
cell phone charger with a minu usb such as a Blackberry ac charger ?

So while it should work, and I have done it successfully,
you are at your own risk. Which in my opinion is low, IF,
you monitor the device charge.

I've used a white Apple brand adapter nominally for iPod charging by
plugging in a USB--mini USB cord into it. Never had a problem-- though I do
unplug it after a few hours. Would be nice in Garmin had a charge indicator
built in...

We recently had a HUGE discussion on all the aspects of Garmin Nuvi
charging...
You should be able to find it in Google -
basically - the USB spec is 5v @ 500ma -
any charger with that spec of 5volts with 500ma to 1000ma (1amp) will do
fine.

The problem isn't necessarily charging, it's overcharging. I

don't know if Garmin USB style chargers are voltage
monitoring or rate monitoring but not all chargers are, and
that's where the bad stuff happens. When chargers continue
to charge after batteries are maxed out, they start
degrading the batteries.
