Hi, Can anyone tell me what the specs ( Voltage and MA) are for the
Garmin Nuvi 250 or 350 AC power adapter (010-10723-00)? They should be
written on the unit. I'm about to go on holiday and want to cut down
on the chargers and cables I have to take so I'm wondering if another
charger would do double duty, but want to check the specs first in
case I blow up the Garmin! Any help much appreciated. Thanks. Chris

The Garmin unit is (presumably) rated 5V @ 1A (educated guess ;-).

However, if you plug in a 'generic' charger (ie one missing the Garmin
'personality' resistor), it will assume it's connected to standard USB and
will only try and draw 500mA. (Don't connect one of these generic chargers
to a 3xx series *cradle* - it will assume it's a Garmin charger. You don't
seem to get smoke(!), but you do get the battery charge indicator
out-of-line with reality).

In the case of a generic charger, it will go into Mass-storage mode and you
won't be able to use it while charging.

I have a different model Garmin Charger. But, it says 5 volts 1 amp.

I actually FOUND the charger. Works fine with my Nuvi 750 and Black
Berry Curve.

If you have the Blackberry driver installed and a Blackberry usb cable
it seems to charge a bit quicker from a computer. The Blackberry AC
chargers seem to work nicely for the Nuvi 260W as well. This is for the
blackberry 8820 which also uses a bit higher current than normal USB
devices, dunno if that makes a difference but it seems faster.
