I live in Michigan (very cold). I noticed that I cannot start (or it is
very difficult) my Nuvi 1350 if I leave the Nuvi in the car while is cold
for prolong hours. - For example - this morning was 19 degree F, I had
left the GPS in the car for a couple of days (cold) and the GPS would not
start - I pressed the power button several times with no response in the
screen. After trying several times it did start up - it has done it twice.
Then I took the GPS inside all day while I was at work and brought it back
out to the car and started right away.
Is this normal?
Thanks,
mac

leaving a GPS in the car is an invitation to theft unless it is in a locked
garage. Mine stays with me when I leave the car. The single most stolen
item from cars these days is GPS units.

I've experienced the cold weather problem with our Nuvi 255 and 260 -
They are ok - turn off - then leave the car for a couple of hours - come
back
and the battery is almost dead.
Our son used it last year in January for a local swim meet.
Drove to the meet - turned GPS off - went to the meet -
came out - the GPS was basically dead.
He used his cellphone and paid the daily fee to get GPS directions.
I now make sure I have the car charger with me in this cold weather...
I'm guessing if it warms up, it might work better and not appear as dead.

Hmmm... Does the 1350 also auto-start when it notices that it's getting
power after not having power like the other Nüvis do? If so, you may be
able to make it power up by pulling the power plug for a moment, then
plugging it back in. (Only some cars keep that power point on when the
engine is off: Many GM cars do, most Fords and Japanese cars don't. If
you've got one that doesn't, just start the car and see if the Nüvi
comes on without messing with the power button.)
