Our kids gave us a Garmin Novi 750 for Christmas. It had the voice
announcing street names. It still has the sound but just says turn
right or left now, doesn't say onto what? I must have done something? I
am technically challenged LOL. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
I went to the Garmin site and was going to print off the manuel but
didn't know what catagory to pick.
Thank you for any help in advance.

Margie:
You have somehow changed the "language" setting. When you first start your
unit, the opening window has "Where to, View Map, Volume & Tools"
Click on "Tools" the wrench symbol
In that window, click on "Settings", the wrench symbol.
In that window, click on "Language, the lips symbol.
In that window, click on the "Voice Personality bar"
In that window, you will see a list of voice personalities, starting with
"American English"
You'll notice that most of them have a line of text below them "Speaks
Street Names".
Make sure you have one of them checked with that below them.
We chose the "Karen-Australian English" one as we think it is the clearest
sound.
On my unit (880) only the "American English" and the "British English" DO
NOT have that text below them.
I'm pretty sure all of the Nuvi series has the same listings.
If you have the AC adaptor and can plug it you can test the various sounds
while sitting at your table.
Hope this helps.

Try Tools/Settings/Language and select a voice that has (tts) in its name
and see if that makes a difference.
Thank you so very much for our help.
Mine has a Jack or Jill English. That fixed it. It had gotten set on
something else?
Thank you again.
Margie
I think Jill English won't read the street names. That's not a
text-to-voice voice. I wish it was, because it's by far the clearest of
the voices. We tried the Australian female voice but found it too
harsh. We're using the American female voice.
What makes us laugh is that down here in San Diego we have lots of
Spanish street names. The (mis)pronunciations from the Garmin are often
quite amusing.
