Hi,

My GPS asked me to upgrade to City Navigator Europe NT 2009.
I purchased the soft and downloaded it... I had great difficulties to
install, the computer telling the GPS was to short on storage. I could onely
upgrades maps country by country.
Now my Nüvi does'nt function well anymore, POI have been lost, countries
does'nt exist anymore, I can not navigate anymore in Switzerland... well...
a mess!
I contacted Garmin support and wait ...
Is it possible to format and to reinstall the soft and the maps in case?
Many thanks!
John

I am not an expert, but I have read on this newsgroup that when there's not
enough memory to install a map, you can delete unused speech files from the
device to make more room and retry the installation.

But if you wish to try that, be sure to first back up to your computer all
of the files you plan to remove.

Thanks for your answer, and what about simply extend the memory with a mini
SD card, does it just add more memory to the GPS or is it a sort of second
memory necessary onely for pictures or so...?
Cheers.

From my original reply: "I am not an expert"...Je le regrette ça.

I believe that it as, as you surmised, "a sort of second memory necessary
onely for pictures or so".

It might be possible to put a map on a larger SD card and use it from there
(that will vary from model to model of GPS), but I am sure that you can't
put part of a map file in internal memory and the rest of that file on an
external card.

There are people in this news group who actually can answer your questions.
That (or perhaps Google) is your best hope, given what I know :-)

No - you are confusing the term "memory card" with "memory chip" :)
a SD flash card is like adding a disk drive - think another drive letter C:
and D:
vs adding memory chips like RAM..... 256mb vs 512mb
