BTW - I am REALLY pleased with my nüvi. For my purposes - great!

To add the Europe maps: I assume one connects the nüvi to the PC and
installs the maps from the PC via USB.

However, where do the new maps reside? How big are they? Do they fit in the
remaining 700Mb? Do they require a SD/MMC card? How big? Can they fit ONLY
on the SD/MMC card, so that they are easily removable?

What happens if I also want the Language Guide and the Travel Guide? Gulp.

TIA

Ike in Virginia, on his way to Germany!

Sure hope it all fits, including

I don't have CN NT but the Germany maps for CN v.7 takes up 321.7 MB

Are you traveling in Germany only or will you cross the border into any
neighboring countries?

The only troubles I had with USA maps on my European SP III was when I
zoomed out so far it wanted to use the base map instead. Not much info
on it for USA.

I will probably jump over to Strasbourg and Salzburg, so France and Austria
would be useful.

If Germany, France and Austria do NOT fit in the 700 Mb available, I wonder
how it will manage the excess. Let's say the three countries amount to 1 Mb
altogether.

700 in the base memory and 300 on the SD card?

Or all 1Mb on the 1Mb SD card?

I guess I will find out the hard way!

Thanks.

If CityNavigator NT works like v.7 when one select maps, you are not
forced to choose a whole country. You choose the mapsegments covering
the areas that you will travel.

But the segments are larger in v.8 than v.7. The only difference
between NT and the ordinary CN is the compression format for the data,
according to the Garmin website.
