Mobile XT - issue with loading maps, Treo 700w

Hi,

I have a Treo 700w running with Garmin's Mobile XT. I go the latest
version from Garmin and the maps are unlocked.

When using MapSource (upgraded to latest version), and trying to
download to the Treo, the device is listed in my list of devices
"Garmin Mobile XT" but the Storage Location section is blank instead
of showing the SD card in my phone.

Now, the installation of Mobile XT went right to the memory card so
its being seen by somebody but I can't load maps.

Any ideas

I have a Treo 700p, and had basically the same problem. I took the
(several) subtle hints and finally just used an SD card loader. One of the
hints to this is the fact that the Garmin "recommended" product is the one
that comes with everything on SD card rather than the one on DVD.

Also, my package instructions say to use "MapInstall" to select and load
maps, rather than "MapSource". Hopefully it doesn't matter, but I
ultimately decided not to take the chance. MapInstall is supposed to be in
the stuff on DVD, and part of the automated sequence, but I downloaded it
from Garmin's site. This was influenced by my having to download the latest
XT software from Garmin just to make the whole thing work.

Ultimately have the receiver working with the Treo, PC and a Mac. The
package software is working on the Treo and the PC. On the Mac of course
I'm using something else. Garmin keeps promising they plan to support Macs.

I've got a thread just above this one on these subjects. I'll be updating
it with any further "discoveries". And yes, I have had some ...
Discoveries. All in all, I must say I'm happy in spite of a few 'warts'.
