I'm replacing my older 76CS with the newer 76CSx, and am wondering how
much geography the 1gb microSD card holds. I will be loading the City
Navigator maps, and live in New Hampshire. Also, any thoughts or
comments on the 76CSx? Your experience would be greatly appreciated,
and thanks in advance!

There was a thread a while ago about card capacity, I'll try and dig it up.

But.... with the prices as they are, why not be "safe" and get a 2G SanDisk?

That will store all of the City Navigator North America NT mapping on 1
GB card. If you have the non-NT version, it will need a 2 GB card to
store all of it or will store about half of it on a 1 GB card.

The NT version needs about .9 GB and the non-NT about 1.7 GB.

I have the 76Cx, I think you'll be very surprised and pleased with the
improvement in the sensitivity and processing speed of the 76CSx over
the 76CS.

Hi Jack and Steve,

Thanks to you both for your prompt responses!

Steve, I may well spring for the 2gb card anyway, but I really am
curious about the geographical capacity of the card (coming from the
115 mb constraints of the 76CS).

Jack, thank you also! What is the difference between the "NT" and non-
NT versions of City navigator? Is one optimized for the memory cards,
and/or anything else that distinguishes these two software products?

Also, regarding the differences between the 76CS and the 76CSx, I
always used the external garmin antenna when in the car with the
76CS. Is the receptivity significantly improved with the SIRF chip in
the 76CSx, that I may not require the antenna?

I use my 76CSx in the car frequently and in some remote areas, no
external antennae and never lost a signal. Heck, I lock onto about 8
sats while sitting indoors in my living room!

Yes, the x is much better
