I recently bought a Legend CX and am very disappointed with the level
of detail on the built in map.
Is the Micro SD City Navigator for North America a good solution for
someone who needs streets, hotels, and restaurants in many cities
around the continent?
Thanks,
Newbie

Maps are in a different format and cost $300 (vs. $140 or so for
the DVD version and $40-50 for a blank MicroSD card).
But if you want to buy the pre-programmed cards, do check
compatibility with the Legend Cx with Garmin first.

I would gladly buy the DVD, but I keep running up against the idea that
the whole map won't even fit on the Legend. That's useless to me.
Thanks. I'll be talking with the Garmin folks tomorrow to get to the
bottom. Maybe I need a better unit.

The Legend Cx has a microSD card slot (it is under the battery cover
alongside a battery) and is supposed to come with a 64mb card. But you
can use larger cards.
Push down on the card with the tip of your finger and it will pop out.
Note the orientation and push it back in until it locks to put it back.
Don't sneeze, you might lose it! (they are small)
1Gb microSD cards are selling in the $30 to $50 range now and you could
get the entire U.S. on two 1Gb cards. Shot the internet for MapSource
City Navigator 8 (it was just released) and you can save a fair amount
off the the MSRP.

Pretty funny .. given that before Jan 2006 units the size of the
one you have now were much more limited (e.g., 24-128 MB).
To me a 1 GB memory is wonderful; to you not good enough.
But before long you will be able to buy a 2 GB card and be happy!
