Mapsource still shows old map... Help!

I installed the latest Mapsource version and updated my Nuvi map to
2011.
I did not wipe the old "City Select North America v.7" for an old
Garmin unit prior to new install.
How can I get Mapsource to show the new 2011 map??
(When I download the new map it only goes into the Nuvi, not the
computer hard drive that can be opened by Mapsource.)

When starting the download, you must choose the advanced options and select
if you want the download just for the PC, to the PC and GPS or just for the
GPS. The default is just for the GPS, so you should have chosen the other
option.

If you downloaded the maps recently, going to your my.garmin.com account, in
the "My Maps" tab there is still a link that will enable you to download the
maps again, this time just for the PC.

This is just a hunch, I never tried this myself.
