I have a few questions please, related to using the Garmin MapSource
program.

First, there is a POI file that I have installed onto my GPSMap 76CSx. I can
select any of the "Custom POI" and navigate to them successfully.

I'd like to be able to plot these POIs on Mapsource with the ultimate goal
of either converting them to Waypoints with a specific icon or assiging a
specific icon to the POIs (is that possible?, yet am unable to find a means
to import the *.gpx POI file successfully.

Using GPSBabel and the *.gpx format as input, there seems to be no output
format that MapSource can import, such as *.mps, *.wpt, *.rte, *.trk or
*.grm.

Will anyone suggest how I might import the *.gpx POIs into MapSource please?
The ultimate goal is to convert the POIS into Waypoints, since the device
icons are better; or maybe you can tell me how to convert the POI icons into
any desired Waypoint icon?

Thanks for your assistance and advice.

If they haven't removed the functionality in later versions, you can just
open the *.gpx file in MapSource. Just choose *.gpx as the file format in
the open file dialogbox.

Thank you, I just found that the version 6.0 MapSource that I was using
didn't have that capability. Version 6.16.1 has the ability to open the
*.gpx file as you suggest.

You can upload POI to mapsource by using the up-arrow on the toolbar
after connecting the receiver to the computer.
