I have downloaded the .exe file 2011-10 for my Nuvi 255. It is saved to the
desktop but clicking on the Garmin download manager to "Launch" does nothing
even after waiting for an hour or so.
I tried a second download with the same hang-up at the end. How can I get
the 2.17GB file to run the extraction and update process?
Previous map updates ran with no problems.
I have emailed Garmin support but I would like the update sorted out without
having to wait several days for them to reply.

Further to the above problem:-

The download file garmin_rmu_cneunt 2011_10 exe cannot be opened manually.
The error given is " Only part of read process memory or write process
memory was completed."

I strongly suspect that there is something wrong with download and that it
is not my computer which is at fault. This is because I have downloaded the
map update again to another separate computer. This gives exactly the same
error message.

Has anyone successfully updated the European 2011_10 map update?
Both my computers run XP sp3 fully updated.

I had saved the previous 2010_30 update and the computers can extract and
start to re-install with no problem. this leads me to the conclusion that
there is some corruption built into the 2011_10 update.

Yes, but I had the same problem initially. It worked for when I opened the
file from Windows Explorer. There was a wait of a couple of minutes when
nothing appeared to be happening other than the flicker of the disk I/O light.
It then displayed the map extract mini-window and continued from there. My
security software required approval at several points.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried what you suggest using explorer.
It works just fine on a previous map update, 2010_30 but with 2011_10 I get
an immediate refusal with the error message specified above.

Latest info. I phoned Garmin UK support this morning. There was a recorded
message saying that they had technicians working on problems with the
European mapping. So it looks like a wait is order till the problem is
fixed....Ho Hum.
