From the Garmin website, it appears as if the Nuvi 755T was the last
Nuvi with an MP3 Player in it. I constantly listen to books on tape
through my Nuvi. Any idea why they took out this capability from
their newer models?

Besides the GPS functionality, the mp3 player is the most-used feature
on my Nuvi 760. I haven't been paying much attention to the new
models, but I'm surprised they'd take that out. Or, by chance, are you
referring to the 'books on tape' from audible.com? I thought that was
a different (but somewhat related) feature.

I was playing with some the newer models at Sam's Club the other day,
and I noticed that none of them had the MP3 Player in them. So this
morning I went to the Products page:

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134

And it showed only the 755T having a MP3 Player. I listen to audio
book (not Audible) all the time. I am just curious why they would
take out this useful feature.

I hadn't noticed the lack of mp3, or for that matter the Audible format
players in newer models. I have a kind of dated 350, and I was recently
contemplating upgrading the maps in it, or just going for a newer unit with
wider screen, maybe BlueTooth, who knows even traffic. But, lack of mp3 and
Audible player would certainly make the decision easy. I travel more than I
care too, and almost always take my Garmin 350 with me, listening to audio
books on the flight, then having a GPS for the rental unit when I get there.

Guess I'll just buy a map upgrade and be happy. Thanks for the heads up.

As I recollect when I had the 755T before I gave it to my daughter
early last year, the player was mono only so I never used it.

As far as my guess for why they left it out - could be that there are
so many other ways to play MP3s in a car and leaving it out was a cost
saving item.

Assuming you do not have a car capable of playing MP3s, you could make
CDs from your MP3s or if you have an MP3 player or smartphone, you can
purchase a gadget for it that allows it to broadcast the MP3 over your
FM radio. The one I purchased for my iPhone 4 cost under $10 on eBay.
