I purchased the lifetime update and installed it on my desktop computer.
Since I use my laptop when I travel, I wanted the new maps on it, too.
I was able to load the desktop computer and the 2720 with no problem. When
I tried to install it on my laptop, I ran into trouble. After untold
e-mails with Garmin customer support, I discovered the problem. Perhaps I'm
just slow, or perhaps someone else might have the same problem and you can
save them some grief.
I was trying to download it to my laptop using the same system as I had used
on the desktop. It would not let me download, giving me the message that
the product key was not any good. The customer service guy asked me for my
login and password so he could check into it. He came back to tell me that
since he didn't have my 2720 to hook up, he couldn't get the 'download
again' link to work. Talk about an "AHA" moment. Based on this comment, I
went into my account and sure enough, on the 'maps' page, was the 'download
again' button. Once I found that, it was smooth sailing.
The moral is...if you're gonna download the maps to a second computer, you
don't do it the way you downloaded it originally.
Maybe this will help someone else...........
