I have just purchased a Nuvi 1300. It has the map version 2011.10 installed.
I noticed on the Garmin site map preview page that the version is 2011.20.
About how much updating was done between these 2 versions?
Does anyone know when a newer version will be coming out? I have about 55
days left on my free update period.
Thanks, John

BTW - you are aware of the lag time between real world changes and GPS
software ?
The real world changes - roads & POI's - have to be reported to various
agencies,
then submitted to the aggregator, then compiled, then packaged for the GPS
vendors,
then formatted for the GPS, and then you get to access or purchase it :)

SO - it may take several iterations - or even years - for certain changes to
appear...

If you are going to keep the NUVI for a long time and interested in
keeping the maps up to date the best solution is to purchase lifetime
maps. Garmin updates the maps four times a year and with lifetime maps
you can download each set. Garmin sells it for $130 but you can get them
from Amazon for $90.

I am not looking for any update in the distant future. I have plenty of
time for that.
I was asking for info about the free update within the 60 day time period
after purchasing a new GPS. I would like to take advantage of the latest
version some time in that 60 day period. I could just get it now but if
there is something newer within that time frame, I can wait.
Thanks

the GPS upgrade timeframe starts from when you first used it with sats - sat
lock -
so, just wait until near the end of the "free" period and update....
what you get, is what you get
