I don't know if any one can help. I bought the life time subscription
and would like to be able to use it on my laptop when we travel. I
downloaded it to my desk top and installed the maps etc to my GPS per
there program. I thought I'll just copy that folder over to my laptop.
But when I click on Mapinstall.exe or mapsource.exe its says must
install one or more application first. All I want is to be able to
look on my lap top[ at the north american map 2010
Thank You
not the same - they are map segment images on the PC & MapSource,
and combined into a single "image" when loaded onto the GPS.
Go look on your PC -
take a look here and see if you have lots of IMG file segments
that should have been installed -
C:/ -> /Garmin -> /CNNAxxxx

and other maps also. I cam make and alter some and all have the .img
files. I load them onto the sim card on my etrex but it has no sound.
I have city nav 10, 09, 08 plus a bunch others and from what I gather
you are saying it loads one .img file into the 855 not all of them, is
that correct?? Or, my etrex maps will not work in the 855.

Well, you may want different TYPE of MAP *not* different versions. IOW,
it would be wiser to have City Navigator and something like (TOPO, Lake, or
MAP of different countries) than having a collection of old CN.
About your 855, you can load ALL MAPs it supports, and to the MAX Block
your 855 can handle. And not to forget that some MAP has auto-route some
doesn't.
