It's a gift from God.
I went to Denver last week, drove over 500 miles in the city with snow on
the ground ( in a semi truck), and I never got lost one time. I went last
spring without the Garmin, and wore out a mapbook, and stayed lost. This is
the best money I've ever spent, period. I plan on telling the whole world
about this device, and buying some stock in Garmin. Simply awesome.

I agree. What I really like is the feature when driving in an
unfamiliar city, and you miss a turn, the Nuvi calculates new
directions in a matter of a few seconds. It sure beats pulling
off the road and trying to figure out a new route on a paper
map (if you even have a paper map for that city).

I was able to avoid a wreck on I-70 by pushing the detour screen. I had
15 minutes to make it to a pickup that closed at 5:30. With the detour
function, I made it with 5 minutes to spare.

I've just had my Nuvi 350 for about 2 months & have found only a few errors
on the map so far. Considering all the new changed in roads I not
complaining since none of my paper maps can't come close to what the Nuvi
can give me. I haven't had the opportunity to use the detour option yet, but
without it I'm sure you'd be lost as most of the local roads don't even show
on most road maps.

We, on the other hand, recently hit a serious limitation of the "detour" =
button on the Nuvi.

We set a course from Providence, RI to MiddleTown, RI. The Nuvi =
calculated a nice route via Hwy 195 and Hwy 24 =
(http://tinyurl.com/y47l9a ). Once we reached the ramp on Gano St, we =
saw it was closed so I hit the "detour" button naively thinking that the =
Nuvi would take me to the next closest ramp. After several minutes of =
following the route on small and poorly lit one-way streets with stop =
signs, uncooperative traffic light, etc. I zoomed out to figure out =
where the Nuvi is taking me. Sure enough, it decided to avoid the =
highways altogether and calculated a crazy route through the city. Some =
detour...
