Sparky-
My old Nuvi 350 works like yours, but a Nuvi 1490T has speed in the
lower right corner all the time. It also shows the speed limit where
available. If you exceed the speed limit, your speed color changes to
red!

Yes, but wouldn't it be nice if you could choose whether to show this or not,

rather than have Garmin decide for you? With the old StreetPilots you can
configure them to show any data on screen - speed, average speed, distance
travelled, time, elevation, (or all of these) - whatever you want.

Yeah. My 2610 has some problems and I was looking at some nuvi's on
display. I found the main thing I noticed was how little information
could be on the map screen. I've really become used to having clock,
eta, turn distance, speed, direction, and altitude on screen. I can't
tell the nuvi's apart so I don't know which I was looking at, but I
couldn't find any of them that came close to that much info on the map
screen.

BTW - depending on the model series,
(and the implied version of system firmware),
the nav screen has been changed slightly...
the top green bar info line (and turn indicator arrow)
left/right bottom corner info boxes - fixed data
"+/-" button locations
For my older Nuvi 260 - it's probably the same are your 660...

but my newer 255 has the left corner always show speed,
and the right corner has direction (normal) or ETA (where to)
