Does the unit just show heavy traffic on the map display-- or does it
reroute you around it?
reroute you around it?

it's actually WORTH detouring, the unit will recalculate a route, but it
assess a fairly heavy time penalty to exit a freeway, drive to someplace
else, and get back on, so I can count the number of times that's
actually happened on one hand.

plus - there is no magic -
The GPS has an extra FM radio receiver - just like in your car radio -
to listen to the traffic reporting stations/signals
and use that info to determine what to show on the map.
So, if your local area doesn't have these special FM radio stations,
then you will not receive any traffic info and no map update display for
traffic...
