Hi, I am kind of new about gps maps and devices and I live in Malta. I
made some research to find some maps of Malta free for my garmin
device and I came around this website which is www.gpsmapsearch.com
were there are free maps for all the world.
When I clicked on Malta, it gave me the source of the maps and they
are in .img file format. Is it possible to take that .img file and put
it in the garmin device such as in the memory card?
If it is possible, can someone please give me the steps on how to
perform this? Thank you

If the .IMG file is Garmin's binary format then go to
http://cgpsmapper.com/ and download the sendmap program.
