Duh :)
It's always interesting how threads drift and waffle into other areas
with authors adding their detailed insight & knowledge - but totally off
topic.

I wonder what the Garmin process is for "including" the mapping POI info,
since it appears that given a fixed image size of say 2GB,
and knowing that our Hobby Lobby WAS in the 2009 map,
but dropped in the 2010 map - how many other POIs were "exchanged"
for new or "more important" POIs in the 2010 map ?

It is a little disconcerning that you knew a certain set of POIs existed,
and you could count on them - and then they are gone -

I'm a bit more new school than you. I saw the thread, entered POI hobby
lobby into Google and got results, the very first of which states:

Hobby Lobby - All Locations | POI Factory
16 Jul 2008 ... This file contains all 411 Hobby Lobby Stores in the US,
including those scheduled to be opened in 2008 & 2009 (as noted in the
location comments). ...
www.poi-factory.com › POI category › stores - Cached - Similar

I mentioned the poi-factory in a prior message and basically got told I
was off topic.

I don't remember seeing that incident, but I don't see how that site
could be off topic here if linking to something of relevance. I've
certainly had a lot of good POI files from there.

this whole thread was about the stores - Hobby Lobby -
not being in the GPS database when accessed while out driving around.
Using the built-in Garmin POI list from the 2010 map.

It was discovered that the stores did exist in the 2009 Garmin map,
but were totally dropped in the 2010 edition.
So - the discussion was about the map database having POI's and then
dropping them.

And the two "suggestions" of basically pre-loading the GPS with a POI are
valid,
if you know you are going to be asking that question of the GPS in the
"unknown future"...
but again - that was not what was being discussed...
