Garmin Nuvi 255 - with 2010.30 NA NT map
--
wife was looking for chain store called Hobby Lobby -
http://www.hobbylobby.com

The GPS had NONE found.....
Tried "hobby", then "lobby" - neither showed any local stores.

GPS has local hotdog stand,
but this was the first time it was missing major chain POI info...

Either that or Garmins figures only red-blooded men buy/use their
products and don't care about such weenie places.

Hobby and craft stores don't fit into the categories that the GPS uses.
Most everyone need a gas station or food at some point, but not so many use
it for finding crafts. Garmin caters to the masses. This keeps the Yellow
Pages in business.

it's an interesting observation...
But - in playing with my Nuvi 255 map display,
touch to 2D display, zoom in to see POI icons -

I can see several "home businesses" around my neighborhood on my display.
So - the Garmin POI database has lifted some info from "somewhere"
for these one of a kind small unknown businesses,
but not so for some kinds of national retail chains...
