Hi All,
I recently purchased as 2820 which came with version 3.0 of the
firmware. I decided to upgrade it to 3.30 with the Garmin Webupdate
Utility. The update showed that it went fine except now that everytime
I reboot the GPS, it comes up with the first time Welcome screen, will
not autozoom, and reboots if I try to run autozoom on and takes about 5
minutes to acquite a satellite signal until it auto reboots itself.
Garmin Tech Support isnt open on the weekends and they do not have the
old firmware to downgrade.
Is there anyway to manually go back to the old firmware or a HARD RESET
option on the 2820?
I played with turning it on pushing the different hard buttons and
found the diagnostics which didnt show any red flags that I could tell.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will find 3.10 or 3.30 for 2820 on this link above.

Thanks for the link Jerry. I tried to downgrade it to 3.10 but
afterwards it said that it fails and now it will not make it past the
Garmin screen.
I will be calling Garmin this week to get an RMA number. I purchased
it online (not ebay) with a reputable reseller. It would be much
easier if I had purchased it a local store since it is within 30 days
of purchase. I guess I
I had zero problems with my 2610 which my wife is now using. I hope
this is just a fluke with the 2820.
I hope the wife will loan me back my 2610 for a few weeks.

I called Garmin and they said to send it in as the unit was defective.
I actually saved some time by returning it to the seller for a new
unit.
The new unit took 30 minutes to find the initial satellite and seems to
be having trouble keeping a signal.
I am starting to question the quality of the 2820. I had the 2610
since it first came out (approximately 3 years I believe) and never had
a single problem with it.
My first comment on the 2820 is how much better and quicker the
reception was than the 2610. The new 2820 has worse signal and cant
even get any satellite with the garage door open. The 2820 that I
returned because it was locked up managed to get a full strength signa
with the car in the garage and garage door open.
It is hard to believe that 2 out of 2 are defective units. I either am
having bad luck or Garmin has some nonpublished issues with this unit.
