Early this morning I posted an article about 'straight line' and the Garmin nuvi
on the Garmin Tricks and Tips Web site.

GARMIN STRAIGHT TALK - I Walk (Drive) The 'Straight' Line

If interested visit http://bit.ly/garmin_gps_tricks

click on Recent Additions.

I know that you know how to use your nuvi to ascertain straight line distance
between two points.

In Google Maps, if you click on the Options Tool 'gear' in the upper right you
can enable Map Labs and then Distance Measurement Tool to accomplish that task.

But, and I just checked, it didn't work for me this evening. I have, however,
used it before - but it has been a while.

Maybe you can get it to work for you later and post your findings.

In Google Maps Labs, there's a 'Distance Measurement Tool'. Enable it
("New" link, or maybe the gear icon), then click on the Distance
measurement tool icon in the lower left corner, next to the distance
scale.

If you need to know the straight line distance between 2 points use Google
Earth. Tools menu choose ruler and I am sure you can figure it out from
there. It works great.
