Has anyone had any success using Google Earth and GPS babbel in
creating routes to use on their Garmin. I've converted the KML files
to a Garmin format. And loaded it to my Garmin. I haven't tried
following the route yet. I'm using World Map so it doesn's have all
the local streets. I have some serious problems when I tell it to
stick to roads but not to many problems if I tell it off road. I'm
trying to find a cheap alternative to using the expensive Garmin
mapping software.
Depending on your country you may find Public Domain maps. Australia and NZ
are extensively covered by free routable maps for garmin GPSs, as well as
many areas of Europe and Asia.

I THINK you still need Mapsource though, which you can get free with any
update disk (even if you don't install the update)
Cheers!
