I'm heading to Europe soon and looking for a gps that has pedestrian walk
mode. I'd like one that has a battery life that will last at least 8 hours.
It doesn't have to been expensive model.
Also does the Nuvi come with Europe maps?
Spain, Italy is all I need.
Any suggestions?

Do some research at garmin.com

Neither of my Nuvi's will give 8 hours of battery life. I have a 750
and a 350. Both have a pedestrian mode, but their battery life is 2
to 3 hours at best. Maybe other users have a different experience to
share with you...

I have a Garmin Quest, now discontinued, but available from various
sources. It is slow and small, but has an advertised 20 hr battery
life (I've used it for 8 with no trouble). City Navigator Europe
works with it, but it is $150, more than you'll find the quest to
cost, I suspect.

There are several (no personal knowledge) good applications for
handhelds that may meet your needs. I worked with a guy 4 or 5 years
back who used one when he travelled to England and Germany.

I had/have a similar problem. My beloved SP 2720 died so I looked for
a multipurpose Nuvi. I found the w855, this has a removable battery
so if the battery dies while walking around I can just pop a charged
one in. However I do not find a stand alone battery charger so they
have to be charged in the unit. Garmin has a nice AC charger kit with
european pliug adapters also a nice leather (like) case. It is a
little large for pockets but it works in my cargo pants or photo
vest. It also takes a micro SD card so you have plenty of memory to
load CN NT Europe. I got mine from Costco.
My 2c's worth, Doug.
