Hello, I'm trying to get the tracks oo my Garmin foretrex 201 to show up
in Google Earth. I have Google Earth Pro and it does have the option to
import tracks from Magellan and Garmin units.

However, when i connect my Garmin (through the COM port), it is just
greyed out (as if it doesn't recognise that my Garmin is connected at
all). I can download the tracks
into Mapsource okay using the same way, so it cannot be the fact that
the unit is incorrectly linked up to the PC or anything like that.

Can anyone suggest anything here ? (Win XP media centre, 1Gb RAM,
Pentium Dual Core)

It may be a matter of the data format used in the
Foretrex vs. that expected by Google Earth. I'd
look into that.

Google Earth suggests:

"If you're using a device that is not supported, you can try importing
GPS data from the device to your computer as a .gpx or .loc file and
then opening it in Google Earth"
