When I used my 76CS I had it set to display North up via the
internal compass at speeds below 5 mph (I think that is how I had it!
It has been 2 years now since I used it!).
Reading someone's review of the 530HCx it seems that the internal
compass is very finiky in that it has to be next to perfectly level
for it to give an acurate readout.
This made me wonder: I remember a few times with my 76CS where I
would be standing still holding it to what I thought was level trying
to figure out where I was and the display would be jumping all around
making it usless to figure out which way was north south east west or
up!
Possible it is best to just let the GPS figure out what way is what
and not use the compass at all?
Any one have any experince with this?
Thanks!!

I never have any problem finding north.
Its waypoint is at 89.9999 degrees north, Zero degrees east/west.

Auto routing doesn't like it. Something about no roads up there.

Yes...and my autorouting GPS is not too keen on finding a route to the
Titanic!

On my 60CSx I recognize the same expierence; the Compass is very hard to
level 'flat'. This causes the compass to fluctuate with 30 to 60 degrees
when moving along the road.
