Hello all to this group
I am new here hope this is ok to post
I just got a Gamin 265wt from my wife for my birthday
I am going to france in Oct
How can i get a map for France
do I have to buy it from Gamin or is there a way to download it
I have checked the net and seema a bit confusing
do I need mapuploader

You can either buy from Garmin or take a look at the free maps here:

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Download

well i have a france img file i put it on the 265wt in the gamin
subfolder,but it does not see the map just show north america.
is there just 1 file the img file

The France image file must be named 'gmapsupp.img' and your original NA
map image should be named 'gmapprom.img' for the 265WT to recognize it.
Also, that France image must be unlocked depending on where you got
the file. The France maps must also be enabled for use with the 265WT
via the Map Info menu screen.

The general Garmin procedure for activating the map on the
SD/microSD card:

Tools / Settings / Map / Info

Then select openstreetmap, and deselect the other map.
