        I don't have any opinion, but I can tell you that the Garmin GPS can get
pretty hot when facing the hot windshield. It's warm in the cool day, but I
don't pay much attention to it (just happen to have my hand on them after
around decade using 6 Garmin GPSes)

Sounds pretty normal to me. The 785 warms up quite nicely after about 20
minutes. It's doing a LOT of things while it's jacked in, has all the
juice it wants, and is working hard, much more so than when it's sitting
on a desk, on battery, or mostly snoozing plugged into a computer.
Internal temp guage usually reads in the upper 30s after driving for a
while.
