What does Garmin consider there flagship GPS models for
Handheld, and Automotive?

I look through the list but it seems they really don't have
a standout in any one category. Am I correct?

Don't get me wrong I have several Garmin units now. C530,
and a 76CX, along with several other GPS units, I'm looking
at another Auto unit just for the hell of it and couldn't
tell what was considered the "Gold" model.

I'm curious, why does one need more than one?

I have three for specific functions.

The 76Cx goes in my pocket so that when we're on a trip and I'm not sure how
to get back to the car or pick up point, I've set that location and can find
my way back. Sometimes, reference landmarks aren't always visible.

The 2720 is used in the car and the 7200 has the same function in the motor
home. The screen size on the latter makes it much more usable for that
function.

Guess I'm a bit Old School since I've never had a desire to upgrade the 2720
to one of the Nuvi series. However, if you can find a 2720 Nuvi equivalent
that can be tailored to that extent, go for it. I went from the original
StreetPilot to the color version and progressed to the 2610. Liked the
feature set on the 2720 when it came out (I was dubious about the mini drive
in the 2620) and haven't had the need to go to the Nuvi series.

If you don't need such things as bluetooth and can find a 2720 refurb, go for
it.

I admit that the voice command capabilities on some of the more recent Nuvi's
are attractive, but I don't want to give up the ability to tailor. If someone
is aware of such a critter, I'd like to hear about it--although having
Lifetime Numaps assigned to the 2720 and 7200 would make me reluctant to
change.

He could fix a waypoint on one when he puts another one down somewhere.
Thus if he ever forgets where he left one.....
