I am a newby and am considering the purchase of a 7200 or a 7500. Any
advice would be appreciated. I understand that at least some of them
do not display the street names on the map (but call them off when you
pass a steet). If I were lost and trying to find out where I was I
would think that having the steet names on would be very useful. Am I
wrong? Is there a was to get them displayed?
Thanks a bunch
Jim

As far as I know, in general, GPS units display street names when that
information is available in the mapset loaded. You usually need to zoom in
fairly tight before the street names are displayed, otherwise you couldn't
see through the clutter :-) Also, if you are driving without navigating a
saved route, most units (and I presume the 7200 and 7500) display the next
upcoming cross street as well.

I've yet to be able to tell the difference between the menu set on the 2720
and the 7200--at least as far as functionality.

The text portion is user definable. I'm sure one of the options is the street
name for the next turn. I don't recall if the name of the next you'll pass is
one of the text options.
