As a long time Garmin user, now with a 76CSx, I'd sure like to see
Garmin allow address searches by zip code instead of by city. I live
in an urban area where lines between citys are blurred and ever
changing. An 82nd Ave address could be in Tacoma, University Place or
Lakewood. If we were able to enter a zip code into the city field, I
would find that very helpful. Likewise when searching for a POI
(restaurants for example), I think it would be nice to be able to run
that search using a zip code.

Thanks,

Roy Rutherford

Where do you live that the city lines move? Must be hell having to
change your address periodically when you haven't moved.

More people know the city than the zip code.

Roy, please forgive Jeff.. he understands your issue, just wanted to give
you a 'non answer' - and I dislike guys that do this.. why even respond?
Trying to be cleaver? Not showing this. If you know a way to help, do it. If
not, go somewhere else.

I don't know - I hope you find out, I'd like to use this too.

If you are calling what I said a non-answer, what do you call YOUR
response? I gave an explanation for why it works the way it does, all
you did was bitch and moan merely to get your voice heard.

A zip code is really only useful when dealing with the post office or a
delivery service. What +I+ think would be useful would be the ability
to do a fuzzy search in "neighborhood" names. Forex, in Boston, I can
apparently search for addresses in "Jamaica Plain", but not "Forest
Hills". Although, really, the only reason why I tried was RoyR's
question.

An optimist is someone who thinks the future is uncertain.

I can give you an example of a reason of why I thought Roy's request was a
valid one, Jeff.

Last week I was looking for someone's house who I thought lived in 'Port
Jefferson'. To my frustration, the address I entered would not appear. It
turned out that he lived in a town called 'Port Jefferson Station', a small
distinction to me for sure, but one which the C330 couldn't distinguish
nevertheless (they border on each other btw).

Had I been able to enter his zip code instead, which I knew, the problem
would have been moot.

I'm afraid I'm with Roy on this, Jeff.
