I have owned a Garmin Nuvi 350 for about 6 months. Although the unit
is great when it is working, the unit has problems acquiring a
satellite fix. I went on an hour an a half car ride yesterday and the
unit took 1 hour to pick up a sattelite fix It consistently takes 5
to 20 minutes to get a fix. Occasionally it picks it up right away.
I cannot figure out why it is behaving so erratically. I have tried
installing the most recent software per Garmin product support to no
avail. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

My 350 doesn't take that long. However, I notice this
1) time may be a bit long to acquire a fix if I turn it on while the car
is still moving. How long? It depends on the course & speed
2) surrounded by tall buildings, e.g. metro area
But the longest time I experienced is less than 5 minutes to finish a
fix. For nearly 1 hr, I suggest you give Garmin Tech Support a call.

Hope this will help.

I had a 360 for a while and never saw an hour to see satellites. I have
noticed 1) above and even do so on my 660. I would suggest calling Garmin
for an RMA and get it attended to. it is still under warranty - something
seems wrong

Some cars are constructed such that you can't get a signal from inside it.
What happens when you try acquiring satellites with it when you're standing
outside, out in the open? Mine takes maybe a minute to get a "fix."

I bought my 350 only a few weeks ago and haven't used it much. Just today
for the first time I noticed something similar - although no where near 20
minutes. Probably no more than 5 minutes. It failed to get a fix in a
parking lot. But I wanted to be on my way and thought that maybe the
parking lot was a dead zone. So I left the parking lot and started what I
knew would be the proper route. But it was still failing to get a fix and I
knew that turns were coming up. So I turned it off and then back on and it
got a fix in probably less than a minute. Of course maybe it would have
gotten a fix at that point on the route anyway. Who knows. To further
confuse the matter, when I turned it off and back on I also changed the
antenna orientation from below horizontal to above horizontal - i. e.,
graphically, from |\ to |/ - if that makes sense. So ... you might try
turning the unit off and back on and/or changing the antenna orientation.
