Any good/bad comments on the Garmin Nuvi 765T???
I'm trying to decide which GPS to go with, the Garmin Nuvi 765T or the
Magellan Roadmate 1470.
Can't speak about the Magellan but the 765T is a quality unit ....just make
sure you upgrade immediately to the latest firmware ver 3.60.
If you do purchase it don't switch on and allow it to start acquiring
satellites. Instead connect it straight away to your computer and get the
latest firmware.

You will need to download webupdater from
http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp and then
after connecting to the computer the GPS receiver select Find Unit to
update it.

I don't know about that particlar Magellan model, but I have had one
in the past and currently own the 765T and I would have to say that
the Garmin is better than Magellan. Of course, not everyone will have
the same experience depending on where you live but down here in
Austin, TX, Garmin seems to work better. The 765T has a couple of
quirks (but what doesn't) and the only issue I have is the battery
life could be a bit better...I found that it lasts about 2 hours..But
I am picky when it comes to having the wire always connected to
charge, so this might not be an issue for you. When I bought mine, I
paid $499 for it but now I see it is only $350 from Amazon (http://

prices...
