I was interested in the GPS for PC bundle and then I noticed that Garmin has
discontinued that package. Was is faulty or was it just not selling?

I could not find any reviews on it. I noticed that there is at least one
other brand of USB GPS but that brand expects you to source your own
software. That seems like an odd way to do it but they probably know what
they are doing more than me.

Not a growth market.

Don't know what brand you're talking about but here's one of the
earliest suppliers of laptop GPS:

That is the brand. If I could figure out how to get the software I might
give that Delorme receiver a try. Or the Garmin because I can just go down
the street to Fry's and pick it up and it is the complete package.

Again, I don't know what you're looking at but any of the three products
on that webpage above include the software as a bundled product. One
*can* purchase the GPS receiver by itself as noted in each of those
products' specs:

"NOTE: If you already own a recent or current version of DeLorme mapping
software and want to use any of them with the Earthmate GPS LT-40, you
can purchase the receiver by itself. Call 1-800-561-5105."

I have a Garmin Nuvi so if I just want to find an address I am all set.
But I would like to see what the latitude and longitube looks like. And
what a topography map looks like. So, in short, does any GPS receiver that
you hook to your PC work with any mapping software?
