I'm a pro pilot and travel worldwide. I left my old Garmin 12XL with
new friends in Uganda last summer and am actively searching for a
replacement unit. I read great reviews on the 60CSx but its an old
design and no longer in production. I've been looking at the Colorado
400T as a possible but see no reviews from anyone who used it in light
aircraft or helicopters. When I am overseas it is nearly always in
remote areas where the GPS might be the only form of reliable
navigation and no local maps available.
I'm convinced the refurbished units are the most sensible way to buy
leaving enough money to add any maps that might be required. I
purchased the Garmin World Map which is so-so as far as details go and
better than nothing.
Does anyone out there have any opinions or suggestions based on my
post and questions? I used the 12XL for 10 years flying helicopters
all over North America/Canada. I bought the external antenna for
placement up where it had an unobstructed view overhead and it worked
great. Still worked great in central Uganda but like computers, it was
time to upgrade.
Thanks for your inputs.

I'd still recomment to 60 or 76 series as long as you get the "x" models.

Agreed. My 76CSx preforms fantastically. Both models are available
new, not refurbs, on Amazon and a host of other places.

The 60CSx and 76CSx may be "old" technology, but they still have features
