If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
I realise that this might stimulate a "RTFM" reply but I've tried and I'm
darned if I can work out what I'm doing wrong.
Basically, unless I connect up my gamin to my PC after every run, the
distance of my last run gets tagged on to the distance of my new run. I
*am* pressing "Start/Stop" after my runs, not "Lap" and it make no
difference if I turn it off.
For example, if I did a 5 mile run yesterday, the mileage won't zero and
today's run will start with 5 miles on the clock unless I've uploaded my
run. This is more than a bit annoying. Have I got a faulty Gamin or have I
missed a simple way of zeroing the distance counter?

Then hold down the lap/reset button for several seconds. That should
reset the distance and time.
At least that's how it works on my Forerunner 110, I assume the 305 is
similar.
