I recently lost (had stolen?) my Garmin GPS and bought an Etrex Venture on
EBay.
I have a Mapsource Metro guide, but when I try to load a map into the unit,
it seems that every map is larger than the 1 Meg storage capacity of the
unit.
Can anyone help?

My Etrex Venture doesn't do maps,,, I can load Land, or water POIs,
but not maps!!
Does your unit have the word MAP in the name?? If not, you probably
can't load maps???
If it does do maps, your owners manual will give you info,,, if you
didn't get a manual, go to Garmin support and see if you can download
one???

Garmin messed with their naming of eTrex series with the Cx models.
The Venture Cx is really a legend that came w/o cable or memory card.
The grayscale Venture doesn't do maps!

That was the conclusion I came to when looking at both of those
models. I bought the Venture Cx, as I could obtain the missing USB
cable and memory card *much* more cheaply than the difference in price
between the Venture and the Legend.
