Hi,

is there anybody who has a specification of the ANT protocol?
Background: I have the forerunner 405cx and no windows or macos at all.
But I want to download the tracks from the device.

I start with a tool called gant but it is somewhat broken with complex
tracks with breaks and laps inside.

Sorry, I was not correct enough. I still have this specification. But it
only specify the low level protocol. This is good documented. But I am
interested in the high level protocol used by garmin to transfer data
from an to there devices.

In the case of a forerunner 405CX most of the data is transfered via
burst transport. That part is documented in the document above. But how
the data in this userdata is structured is not documented. And I search
for exactly this information.

For now I did some reverse engineering and find some useful information
but there is many I do not know.

I hitchhiked the gant tool from the original author. You can find it
under http://www.ethgen.de/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=gant.git;a=summary

might try over in the Garmin forums - for the sports -

I have no hope with that. Anytime you talk about linux the garmin people
only tell you that they do not support linux but give no useful
information. They do also not answer your question if the question is
not at all related to linux but the word linux is anywhere in the text.

As good ass the hardware of garmin is as bad is the support!

On the other hand, forums are that muddled and that kind of
incommunicative that I usual avoid forums. Do you really think they know
better than here?
