My garmin nuvi 760 has lost all sound. None of the mutes are checked and it
is not set up for FM. Any suggestions?

Maybe try if sound still works with a headphone. That could help
locate the defect (speaker or electronics) and maybe even help fix the
problem: plugging in a headphone usually switches off the speaker,
maybe yours got stuck?

Regards,
Gilles.

My 760 has been soundless since last year. Some of the Nuvi's,
including the 760, apparently have a tendency for the headphone jack
to lift off the printed circuit board, with ensuing havoc. I've
checked a couple of repair shops/sites and they say it's a common
problem. The fix for this problem is to carefully reattach the jack to
the board, which is generally not a user serviceable task, or replace
the unit (refurbished through Garmin for $99, for example). I simply
chose to live with it for now.

Not sure if you have the exact same problem, but it seems like it. On
mine, if I *partially* insert a headphone plug I can kinda sorta get
audio from one of the two stereo channels, but only while I hold the
plug just right.
