Garmin 760: Remove an entire region (and replace with an updated version)

I have a Garmin nuvi 760. I want to update City Navigator North America
NT 2008 with the 2009 version.
The Garmin unit was received with City Navigator North America NT 2008
preinstalled.
In the unit under map info I saw:
City Navigator North America NT 2008 with a checkmark, and
[1] ALL

After updating with Mapsource, DVD City Navigator North America NT
2009, and the Ontario map set, I got the message update was succesfull.
Now in the unit under map info I see:
City Navigator North America NT 2009 with a checkmark, and
[1] ONTARIO
City Navigator North America NT 2008 with a checkmark, and
[1] ALL

I can see how to add different 2009 map sets but I would like to remove
City Navigator North America NT 2008 altogether and have the unit under
map info to show only:
City Navigator North America NT 2009 with a checkmark, and
[1] ALL

How can I achieve this? The manual is not clear how to remove an entire
region (and replace with an updated version). I do not find the info on
this forum.

I believe that I need to go into the Garmin folder and delete the
largest file there (gmapprom.img). But what are the following steps to
cover the entire City Navigator North America NT 2009 region?
