Garmin 305 - No Map detail?

Just back from three weeks cycling and walking in Spain. Took my 305
out on each trip. On return uploaded to Garmin Connect. No map detail
for he first two weeks. Each trip had recorded distance travelled and
time take but nothing else. Then on week three the map suddenly
appears with all the elevation data etc. No big deal, but I am
puzzled; why would this happen? Did I alter a setting somewhere? Any
suggestions.

Then why did the map detail suddenly start working on week 3? Still
mystified!

The newest data overwrote the oldest. So the most recent data being there
makes total sense.
