We have a 2730 that has a subscription to XM Radio. Through XM, we
also subscribed to Weather for a few months, which comes bundled with
Traffic. We turned off Traffic/Weather for a few months and all was
fine until we tried to re-subscribe. The unit WILL NOT get the traffic/
weather signal despite over 20 (yes twenty) calls to XM (they refresh
the signal) and at least 6 contacts to Garmin. The XM Radio is still
working fine.

We thought the unit was not functioning, so we bought another 2730,
subscribed to XM Radio, Traffic and weather. XM Radio works fine, the
unit WILL NOT receive the traffic/weather signal.

Did a Webupdate to make sure software on both units was latest version
(it was), re-set the Garmin, still no luck.

Garmin says as long as we're getting the XM Radio signal, the problem
is with XM. XM has "refreshed" the traffic/weather signal at least 20
times.

We're out of ideas. Anyone have ideas?

Problem solved, maybe. After a total of 27 (yes, twenty-seven) calls
to XM, WXWorx (XM's weather/traffic provider) and Garmin, I solved it
myself. All of the XM support people had told me I did not have to
have Traffic to have Weather, although my Garmin manual indicated
otherwise. On an "I'll try anything" whim, I went online and changed
my own billing status to add the Traffic subscription as well as
Weather. Voila! Within minutes I had XM Radio, Traffic and Weather. Do
you think in all those calls to XM over a three-month period, they may
have suggested that? Is it pitiful that *the customer* has to resolve
their internal subscription billing quagmire and explain it to them?

I will say that the Garmin people did what they could and responded
with good suggestions, the ball just wasn't in their court.
