I am using the name speller and my Garmin 1350 cannot find Detroit Airport.
I have the latest maps 2010 .40
what am I doing wrong?
mac
I found it - the general speller didn't find it. However, using the speller
while in the transportation screen found it. weird.
what exactly do you mean by "general speller" ?
what screen did you start from ?

I believe I understand what "mac" was saying as I think I just
replicated it in Mapsource (version 6.15.11) with City Navigator North
America NT 2010.4
If you go to FIND PLACES and select FEATURES - ALL POINTS OF INTEREST if
you type "Detroit Metro" you get a couple of choices, for "Detroit
Metro." No Detroit Airport, Detroit Metropolitan Airport, etc. just a
couple for Detroit Metro including parking.
If you burrow down to FEATURES - TRANSPORTATION - AIR TRANSPORTATION,
you will get Detroit Metropolitan International and various others which
are all related to DET.
Note that I didn't plug in either city or state to localize it - but
that really shouldn't make any difference, the broader the search
parameter the more hits one should get, not less.
He's right, it IS strange. One would think that the search engine would
find something fairly unique regardless.

You have to realize that the Garmin search is not as powerful as a
Google or Yahoo search that we are used to using.
